What is the difference of Lifestyle and Posed Newborn Photography? | Cleveland, Ohio

You may have seen the wording “Lifestyle” Photography or Lifestyle Newborn Photography many times while searing for photographers. Do you actually know the difference between Lifestyle and Posed Newborn Portraits? When researching for a Newborn Photographer you first need to ask yourself what type of photos do you want. Was there a certain style or photo you saw in a magazine or even Pinterest that caught your eye? Once you realize the certain style that you love then its time to search photographers. Its best to search up photographers and what their “style” is. Some might be more portrait and some might more candid.

The term Lifestyle photographer simply does mean more of natural unposed candid photos. The posed portraits are the typical ones you see with backdrops and are less artistic in nature. I believe lifestyle photos tend to be more storytelling and artistic in the same fashion. I have a love for both. I do believe lifestyle photographer is better taken in the clients home and with their natural surroundings. Its the baby cradled in the parents arms with the crib in the background. Or the family piled on the living room couch while the 2 year old is jumping. This all makes for some terrific candid and lifestyle shots. The posed portraits are best taken in the studio with controlled lighting and backdrops I still try to incorporate some artistic flare into my work in the studio but it is more controlled.

Looking for newborn photography sessions? I currently offer both mini and full newborn sessions. The mini newborn are photos of just the baby taken whether the baby is asleep or awake. This is done in my home studio and you have full access to all the props and wraps needed for the photos.

The full newborn session is called my Simply Beautiful Newborn Session and is a 2 hour session taken in my home studio. These are photos taken of the entire family and as well as the baby alone.

Fall Mini Photography Sessions | Cleveland, Ohio | Lake County, Ohio

Its that time of year again with the cooler temps, leaves changing and shorter days. Even though I really love summer and that will always be my favorite time of year. There is something about the start and feel of the fall and holiday season. For me it also starts the busy my busy Family Photography Session season. I am usually busy all year round with newborns, milestone and family photography. The fall is my favorite time to host a few mini photography sessions. I only do about 3-4 per year and its a great time for families who only want a few pictures and a quick session. What is a Mini Session? And how is it different than a regular family session?

My regular family sessions can be booked at anytime throughout the year. I am always happy to work with the family picking the best day, location and of course outfits for their photoshoot. With my regular family sessions there is one price and in that price it comes with 50-60 digital images with copyright. The family also gets to choose any location they would prefer. Urban, beach, park or even their own home is an option.

My Mini Sessions are only done a few times during the year. The date and location is chosen by myself. The session is only 20 minutes and the family usually receives 10-12 digital images with the option to purchase more. Are the minis meant to replace a full family session. Not usually… There is no way I can photograph in 20 minutes what I would normally shoot in a full 1 -1 1/2 hour session. The minis are short and sweet but nice for families who like to get pictures done every year:)

For my Fall 2019 Mini Photography Sessions I am booked for October. I have a couple openings for a full regular family session. I will be announcing my Christmas Tree Farm Mini Sessions soon. I was so excited to hear from this friend of mine that told me she was expecting. Not only was she expecting but she also wanted me to photograph her Newborn Photos. This family have been waiting for a sweet blessing from above to arrive for some years. They were finally blessed with a baby girl that now completes their family of four. Big brother Mason couldn’t be more excited for his new little baby sister. I am so very happy for you all!

It was so special to photograph this new baby girl. The reason was I first met this cute couple when we did a fall photo session and she announced she was expecting. No one knew yet she was expecting I was able to photograph the sweet ultrasound with the soon to be big brother. At the time neither of us knew if a baby brother or sister would be joining the family.

I offer many different newborn packages in order to fit everyone’s needs. I offer in my studio newborn plus family sessions, mini newborn sessions (just for the baby) and I also travel to clients homes. I bring all of my newborn supplies with me and we focus on more lifestyle photos!

In full bloom with this Newborn Photography Session | Cleveland, Ohio | Mentor, Ohio

Its always a pleasure meeting and talking with a family expecting a new little one on the way. This family not only trusted me with their newborn session but also their Fresh 48 session. The best part is non of us new if the family was going to have a baby boy or girl? They currently have a baby boy at home and we all were anticipating the news of the baby’s arrival. I will say I was a little excited to hear girl since for some reason 2018 and early 2019 was a year of newborn boys. I met the family in their hospital room for their fresh 48 session. Baby girl looked perfect and mom, dad and brother were thrilled for her to be here. The fresh 48 take place within 48 hours after delivery. I usually like to come in about day 2 of their stay. Once I wrapped up the fresh 48 session I was looking forward to them returning for their newborn sessions.

This session took place in my small studio. The newborn session entails more of the traditional poses of baby and adding in mom, dad and brother as well. I am so thrilled for the C. Family and their new family. I wish nothing but the best and creating sweet memories as they watch their children grow through the years.

You may have heard of Lifestyle photography and wondered what does that exactly mean? Lifestyle is essentially the candid moments created in an artistic manner. I am happy to announce I offer 2 different types of Newborn Photography Sessions. The first is a 1 -1 1/2 hour session in my home studio. At the studio I provide multiple headbands, wraps and props available to photograph the baby. Next we can take photos with mom, dad and siblings if needed with the options of backdrops and a beautiful white couch. The client also receives all the digital images taken from the session. On average around 40-50 images with copyright release.

The second option is my Newborn plus lifestyle session in the comforts of your own home. The benefit of this is I bring everything to you! I typically take all of the newborn photos with my wonderful props and wraps but then focus on unique candid photos throughout your home.

Lifestyle photography is the goal of capturing real-life events in more of an artistic manner. This could be the tickling of baby toes while up in the nursery. The mom sweetly rocking the baby in her rocking chair. These artistic photos not only capture more of the everyday but also help create a story. It is essentially telling the story of you and your new family days after leaving the hospital.

This little Newborn was a fun newborn session. I have known the family for years and was happy to hear the new when they were expecting baby #4! This cute little girl joins big brother, big sister and big sister at home. She was welcomed with many arms and has been a blessing to the family. I wish nothing but the best as we watch this little girl grow through the years:)

It is best to book your Newborn Session a few months prior to delivery. The best time period to photography is anywhere from day 5-day 12 of life.

A very special newborn session

I have no doubt some people come into our lives for a special purpose or meaning. They may come in to our lives to teach us a lesson whether it be good or sometimes bad. I have no doubt 7 years ago my beautiful friend Alyssa came into our lives with nothing but the BEST. It was 7 years ago we made the move from Erie, PA to Northeast Ohio where we knew NO ONE, not one familiar face. Not to mention I had 3 boys age 4 years and under with my youngest being 3 months old. To say that was the hardest point in my life was an understatement. To pack up, leave all of your familiar surroundings, friends and family you have known for decades-hard, very hard. It wasn't all roses and rainbows once we were settled and moved in either. I still didn't have those familiar streets to drive on or friendly faces to chat with. I missed running into my old neighbors at the grocery store. Its these little things many people don't even realize are very special to us, until they are gone.

Moving is not for the faint of heart, but I then I was so happy to have Alyssa walk into our life. I was looking for a babysitter to help out so Jason and I could have a date night here and there. We so needed some occasional nights out. Even though I never wanted to leave my kids, I knew it was best for us to get a break. I didn't have Grandma down the street to watch my boys or my newborn. I found Alyssa and after talking with her we clicked and for the first time I felt like I could leave my kids with her while Jason and I went our for dinner.

The years past and Alyssa would continue to watch our kids so we could have our "date nights" together. Not only did she watch my kids grow, I watch her grow as well. From the single 20 something year old girl working on her masters to finding her future husband. I watched as she found her now husband Jason to the announcement she was expecting her very own baby! What?! The very own young lady that watched my kids would know be having one of her own. Life has a funny thing of coming full circle and it sure did. She then asked me to photograph her very own precious baby boy! To say I was honored is an understatement and couldn't have been more thrilled to document this special time for them.

I wish nothing but the best for the A. Family! I know you both are terrific parents and baby Jase is so lucky to have you as his parents! I look forward to now watching him grow into a special little boy:)

A beautiful Newborn in home Lifestyle Session took place in Chardon, Ohio. Often times I get asked what exactly is a lifestyle session? Lifestyle photography is my favorite type of photos because its more about the candid unique connection captured between families. That is what a photo session should be. Natural, not rushed focusing on the connection.

At-home lifestyle newborn sessions are about the connection and love that family members already have for this new life. I'll capture special moments with each family member and the baby as well as the family all together.  It was honor to photograph the M. A Beautiful Newborn and Lifestyle in home Session.

You may have heard the term "Lifestyle Family Session", but never fully understood what that meant or what it entails. I was excited to announce my Newborn sessions now have the option of adding on the Lifestyle Session at a clients home. So what is a "Lifestyle Session"? The at-home lifestyle newborn sessions are about the connection and love that family members already have for this new life. During these sessions my goal is to capture the special moments with each family member and the baby as well as the family all together. The siblings are involved as well with the session. The benefits of having the session in your home is to allow the siblings to run and play while the "newborn posed" pictures are taking place. These sessions are at a much more relaxed-casual pace and often times the youngest member of the family (aka, the newborn) will dictate how the session runs.  The session is usually 2-3 hours in length depending on how sleepy the baby is in order to achieve the newborn poses. I usually like to start the session with the Newborn. It is best to keep the baby awake 2-3 hours and fed prior to my arrival. Once I arrive I prefer to begin with the newborn photos. These photos usually consist of props and the use of my beanbag. If the baby is not cooperating, no worries, we may move to the nursery with some candid mom and baby photos. Its a very laid back session, and we all go with the flow.  If the baby is still not quite ready for their individual pictures this is a great time to photograph the baby with mom, dad and incorporate the siblings. After those pictures are complete, I will go back to the newborn photos. My newborn photos are a mixture of swaddling in a few "posed" positions but often times they may appear in a more relaxed newborn position. My goal isn't to turn your beautiful newborn into a "frog" pose but rather photograph all the unique and beautiful qualities the newborn has in a more natural way. This would include the baby's feet, eye lashes, and flaking skin. After all, time waits for no one, and we have a very small window of time to capture these beautiful newborn characteristics.
