“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?”

It's important to choose a photographer who specializes in newborn photography and has experience working with infants. At my studio, I have over 7 years of experience working with newborns and their families. I'm dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby. I understand the importance of capturing these early moments, and I take pride in creating beautiful, timeless memories that you'll cherish for years to come.

“What can I expect during a newborn photography session?”

During a newborn photography session, I'll work to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby, and guide you through the posing process. You can include your family members in the photos, and I encourage parents and siblings to participate in this special moment. If you have any specific poses or props in mind, I'm always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.

To capture the best moments, it's important to schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible. I usually recommend anytime from day 5 to day 15 of life. I recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability. My calendar does fill up quickly since I leave some room in my calendar if babies come early or late!

“Do I need to bring anything?”

You don't need to bring much to the session as most of the items your baby will need will be provided by the studio, including props, wraps and accessories! However, I encourage you to bring a few personal items that you would like to incorporate into the photos, like a special blanket or toy (this is optional)!

“When will I get my photos?”

After the session, I love to send a sneak peak about 2-3 days after! You can expect to receive the fully edited gallery within 2-3 weeks.

“How much does newborn photography cost?”

Newborn photography sessions can range from $500 to $3,000, depending on the package. I know this might seem like a significant investment, but keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialized service that requires a lot of time, effort, and equipment. I'm dedicated to providing high-quality images & products that you'll cherish for a lifetime!

With my packages, the price includes the session and all the digitals. I also offer high quality professional prints if you would like to order speciality items.

So, there you have it! Newborn photography is a wonderful way to capture the early moments of your baby's life and I do my best to take care of all the details, so all you have to do is show up!

10 things your doctor never told you about giving birth | Cleveland, Ohio

Hey there mama-to-be! So, you might be feeling a little overwhelmed with all the information (or lack thereof) about giving birth. But don't worry, I’ve got you! Here are 10 things about giving birth that will help you feel more prepared and in control.

You don't have to give birth in the hospital. Giving birth at home or in a birth center can provide a more relaxed and intimate setting for the birth of your baby. It allows you to have more control over the birthing process and can provide a more personalized experience.

Question for your doctor: Would he/she support you and work with a homebirth midwife if you decided to go this route?

Epidurals are not the only form of pain relief available during labor. Epidurals are a common form of pain relief during labor, but they are not the only option available. Other forms of pain relief include nitrous oxide, spinal blocks, and natural methods such as hypnobirthing, acupuncture andmassage. These options can provide a more natural and less invasive form of pain relief.

Question for your doctor: What other pain relief options do they see often that’s effective other than epidural?

You can bring your own music or sounds to the delivery room. Music can have a powerful impact on our emotions, and it can help create a calm and soothing environment for you during labor. You can bring your own playlist, a sound machine, or even your own voice to help you relax and focus during labor. I listened to music with my daughter and it was so relaxing and comforting.

Question for your doctor: Can I bring music to the birthing room?

Birthing pools can help you feel more comfortable and relaxed during labor. Warm water can help ease the pain and discomfort of contractions, and it also allows you to move around more easily, which can help the baby move down the birth canal. Birthing pools can also provide a sense of privacy and intimacy during labor.

Question for your doctor: Are there birth pools at the hospital or another way I can use water to relax?

Birthing positions - there are many different positions that can help make the birthing process easier. There are various birthing positions that can help make the birthing process easier, such as standing up, sitting down, on your hands and knees, or even lying down. Experiment with different positions to find what feels most comfortable for you.

Question for your doctor: In what positions are you willing to help me birth my baby?

Doulas are a great support and aren’t only used for birth. A doula is a professional trained to provide emotional and physical support to a woman and her partner during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum period. A doula can help you with relaxation techniques, provide emotional support, and advocate for your wishes during birth.

Question for your doctor: Do you work with doulas often? Are there any you recommend?

You can eat and drink during labor, if you want to. Having a light snack can help keep your energy levels up. It's important to listen to your body and your healthcare provider during labor, and to make sure you are well hydrated and nourished.

Question: Under what circumstances will I not be allowed to eat or drink in labor?

The power of the mind - visualization and other relaxation techniques can help during labor. Visualization and relaxation techniques such as hypnobirthing, yoga, and

meditation can help you stay calm and focused during labor. It can also help to lower stress hormones and increase endorphins, which can make labor more manageable.

Question: Is there anything I can do now to learn how to cope with labor?

Cesarean sections are not as scary as they seem. C-sections are a common form of delivery and can be planned or unplanned.Your doctor and nurses will take great care of you and your baby during the procedure. It's important to remember that a c-section is a surgical procedure and there are risks associated with it, but it can also save the lives of both mother and baby in certain situations.

So, there you have it, mama. You're armed with some new information that I hope by reading 10 things your doctor never told you about giving birth in Cleveland, Ohio useful. Get ready and excited for this new season of life!

5 Essential Tips for a Successful Newborn Photography Session

As your Cleveland Ohio Newborn Photographer lets discuss 5 essential tips for a successful newborn shoot!

For any professional photography shoot to be successful, a lot of planning goes into every shoot. So lets dive into some of the most important steps to planning a stress free newborn photography session.

1) While you are still awaiting for your little one to arrive, book your Newborn session! I can’t stress this enough. I understand from the moment you find your expecting everything feels like a whirlwind. But having 1 less to do on your list such as newborn portraits is a big must. Many newborn photographers fill up quickly and months in advance. For myself I only take a certain amount of newborns each month so I can leave room open for date changes. Please remember to book that newborn session while you're still expecting not once the baby arrives.

2) Consider doing in studio shoots as opposed to in your home. Don’t get me wrong I do love visiting peoples home and shooting lifestyle shoots. However, it’s simply a different look in the studio vs in home shoots. When coming to my studio I am well equipped with all wraps, accessories props and proper lighting needed for the shoot. There will be no guessing how the photos will come out since studio shoots are very well planned, organized and well lit with professional lighting.

3) Plan on brining extra outfits, diapers, bottles to feed and pacifiers. I always tell parents to plan on the unexpected during the shoot. I have been doing this long enough that usually the baby will act and do things a little differently during the shoot. And that’s OK! We have to consider the baby could be going through a growth spurt during their session therefore wanting to eat more than ever. More than they usually do. I hear this a lot, I can’t believe they are eating so much. So don’t forget extra diapers too!

I always recommend bringing a pacifier even if they DO NOT take one at home. Sometimes just having the baby suck or even play with the pacifier calms them enough in between shots to get the look I want.

4) If traveling with a toddler during the newborn session bring lots of snack and toys for them to be entertained. Often times keeping the toddler happy can be more work than putting the newborn to sleep, lol. I get it, I am around many toddlers every week and they are a fun bunch :)

5) SIT BACK & RELAX. I always tell parents this is your time to sit and relax for a few minutes, I’ve got the baby. I am not only safety certified on how to handle newborns during my photography sessions but I was also a nurse and mother of 4 little ones. So don’t worry, I’ve got this and will create some of the most beautiful portraits for your family.

Cleveland Ohio Newborn Photographer

And that’s about it! I hope you enjoyed reading these tips on how to prepare for a successful shoot. If you already booked a Newborn Session with Danelle Joy Photography then sit back and relax, I’ve got this.

If you still are unsure and have more questions about the shoot please reach out I would love to chat and answer all of your questions.

Kindly,

Danelle
